Quest for Immortality -Egypt -

You dont have to go to Egypt to see e mummies & read the book of dead! =D
All ty to national museum's exhibition - Quest for Immortality!

As usual, the bunch of us went to view the exhibit.
Again, ty to mom for providing the passes, all of us got in for FRREEEEEE!!!!!
Had we queued up to buy passes, we would have to wait for some 30min.
The booth was understaffed and unable to manage the snaking queue...

That aside, we bumped into an old lady who offered to tour us round the museum.
TBH, it was kinda dull. I did however like some of the ghost stories she shared and the whereabouts of raffles' biodiversity collections. We also got to see an interesting artwork consisting of lanterns swinging in fixed pattern at diff hours of the day. nice =)

Moving on, we headed to the exhibition hall where we were freed from the guide's rambling.
We decided not to take e guided tours and went round viewing the exhibits.
At the entrance, there were some interactive hands on activities.
We could make paper pyramids, play chess and write our names in Hieroglyphics!! =D

At the exhibits, I took my time reading each description.
However, I somehow ended up drifting quite far ahead of the group as I was lost in my thoughts.
As I had viewed almost 90% of the exhibition, I quickly looked through the remaining 10% which included a clip from National Geographic's documentary on embalming. There, I bumped into shu hua who I thought was with chibi and gang. I wonder how she trans-located there so quickly!

After meeting up with shroom, we decided to trace our steps and look for the others and quickly found em. Chibi griped, saying that she didnt see any mummies nor the book of death when in truth, she & gang had not reached em.

I decided to "spoiler" her. Muahahahaha!
Upon delivery, her eyes lit up and the gang increased the pace, moving towards the mummies and their respective coffins w canopic jars. These 4 jars contain specific organs - eg: heart, brain, stomach, intestines, etc. Differentiated by their lids - Jackal/Human/Harpy/Baboon Headed. Go google/wiki if u wanna know their names =X

Naturally, this process makes it easier to preserve the body which is dehydrated with salt to keep it dry. The body is then bandaged with specific ornaments on the chest, neck and forehead.
Finally, it is put in the coffin and transported to the tomb.

Having seen the mummies and the book of death, we took some candid shots with horus. I decided to mimic the priests in the book of death and posed as though I was worshiping him XD

Btw, I am atheist! I have no god!
