I replied, "The where the metal ring's ends meet - Chisel it and the gap widens." "Wrong," said the man, "It is at the weakest link." "The weakest link?" I asked, "Where is it?" "I cant tell you for I myself do not know, " replied the man, "but I assure you that it is somewhere along the chain. Strike it and the chain will become two." Kinda deep eh? This man actually convinced me to read Lao Tzi's Tao Te Ching. From my perspective, I believe he meant to say that everyone and everything has a weakness. No matter how strong or evenly distributed the strength is, there is bound to be a weak link. Strike it and it will shatter. Such is seen in Sun Tzu Bing Fa as Sun Tzi describes the Nine Situations (Chapter 11) and the different grounds the attacker and defender play. Through leadership (see Chapter 1), stratergy and rapidity on the battle field supported by a strong intelligence/communications network are battles won. While at times, Lady Luck has some share, it should be noted that she favours those who prepare! So moral of the story: Make haste while the Sun shines! Now moving onto Saiful's query on Taoism & Gods, I believe that these Gods are the result of misinterpretation and the love of money. The same way L.Ron Hubbard started scientology. The original Tao never had Gods. Tao is meant to be the DIRECT OPPOSITE of Confucianism! In Confusanism you: 1) Respect those above you 2) There is a Class/Caste system in power! In ORIGINAL TAOISM you: 1) Treat all as equal 2) There is no Class/Caste system 3) Leaders are chosen through their abilities, not through money or birth rights. This is contrastingly different! The Taoist Gods are simply named after the moral values mentioned by Lao Tzi! Therefore, I have chosen to follow my own Tao. Afterall, Tao simply means, "The Way", and this MY WAY! =D |
